Kirsten offers assessment and treatment supporting women to improve their mental health during pregnancy. Issues commonly addressed include antenatal anxiety, antenatal depression, bonding issues, pre-exiting mental health issues, previous birth trauma, childhood/sexual/physical/emotional trauma, parenting fears and issues relating to family and relationships.
Kirsten also provides treatment to women during the postnatal period and during the first few years of parenting. This is a significant time of change and adjustment for most new mothers. Issues that commonly arise during this time include postnatal depression, postnatal anxiety, birth trauma and grief & loss. There are also changes in relationships with a partner, friends, family and work and emotional changes such as feeling overwhelmed, a loss of control or feeling incompetent. Parenting stress, sleep deprivation, social isolation, changes in identity & competing priorities also emerge making this new transition really tough.
Kirsten provides clinical psychology appointments which usually last for 50 minutes out of her Ashgrove office. The Geebung location at Peach Tree Wellness Centre is for perinatal mental health concerns only.
